I'm probably going to make an official post about this sometime soon, but it's worth posting a personal take first.

I'm tired. I'm running myself ragged.

I love working on We Distribute. The domain area is something I'm really passionate about, and I love being able to report on so much going on with it.

To date, I have published roughly 120+ articles for We Distribute. It's a labor of love, and often hard work. I've learned a lot, and gotten much better over the years with what I do.

I'm running on fumes. I need help running this thing.
Here's all the things I currently do:

✅ Write, Edit, and Publish Articles
✅ Fact-checking and gut-checking pieces before they go out.
✅ Creating thumbnails for every article, guide, and podcast episode.
✅ Host a Podcast
✅ Edit Audio and Video versions of said Podcast
✅ Perform outreach for podcast guests
✅ Edit clips for social media
✅ Run social media accounts (we have like...6 of them?)
✅ Research and Test Emerging Platforms
✅ Answering questions for new users

It's a lot. I'm proud of it, I love doing it, but I really need help.
We Distribute needs people to help run it. I'm in the process of incorporating as a 501c3, but it's time-consuming and a lot to figure out. I don't really have much money to pay people for the time being, but I hope to change that.

We Distribute needs knowledge experts. It needs passionate writers. It needs people to help run the accounts, and give advice. It needs people that know how to edit media.

I realize that this is kind of a tall order, but if you'd like to work with us, it would be a joy to help bring you into the fold.
A big thing that's eating at me right now is that I have a really bad habit of making everything a solo effort. I don't want to say that I don't know how to work with other people - my career history reflects that - but making a project bigger than just yourself is hard.

It requires letting go, of finding compromises to working together, of not trying to control every little detail. I have to figure out how to set things up in a way that aren't cumbersome or complicated. I have to find a way to set standards for writing, engaging with the public, and half a dozen other things.
@deadsuperhero
I feel you. It's hard to switch gears from solo to team.
@deadsuperhero That’s a lot of work but repetition will make you faster!
@deadsuperhero I appreciate you being honest and vulnerable about how much of a toll doing everything has taken on you and reaching out for help ❤️ We all support you! I hope you’re able to find more people to bring on and help soon. Until then, give yourself a break! You don’t need to keep up with everything! It’s okay to take your time working on things if it means you can avoid burning out. We don’t expect you to have the output of a publication with a full staff all by yourself 🫶🏻
@jesseplusplus @deadsuperhero Agreed! Jesse is right. We'd all prefer slower news cycles to seeing another Fedi Star burn out completely. (I capitalized that for you, heh heh) Take care.

@deadsuperhero Love everything you and We Distribute are doing! Being a fairly active writer and having run a podcast series not too long ago I know how much work it can all be. With #Threads federating and X continuing to crumble there is A LOT of organic interest in the #Fediverse + the #IndieWeb and I see your site becoming more of a gateway for folks to learn what is out there.

I'll keep spreading the word about you guys and hopefully more eyes will mean more support on the way!
