Immediately in the wake of Biden's call to #Netanyahu, raising the scary specter of the US actually complying with its own aid conditions meant to avoid arming war criminals, as many have begged for months, Israel announces it will open the Erez crossing for 1st time in 6 mos.

I predict it'll help some, but won't shift in Netanyahu's genocidal aims or plans to starve #Gaza. His govt will still do everything it's doing at other points, to thwart entry of food, water, & medicine to #Palestine.

I hope I'm wrong and it helps a lot.

I hope it averts starvation for every man, woman & child in #Gaza.

I hope it averts the deaths of the dozens of children under 5 who are presently dying from *man-made starvation* due to Israel's #TotalSiege policy - every week in Gaza.

And I hope everyone who celebrates this step, thinks about the reasons it wasn't taken earlier, even though it could have easily been done by picking up the phone.

So the question is, what will it take to rein in Netanyahu's #genocide that is being carried out by the IDF?

Because this phone call isn't going to be enough. The genocide has been underway for months. Genocide's soldiers, primed with Bibi's #Amalek speech & sent into the ground invasion, will not turn on a dime.

US citizens still want a #ceasefire, an end to war crimes, an end to starvation. The US *will* need to stop sending them weapons. So call your reps & tell them that.

@chargrille Netanyahu is running for his life. Joe Biden can't sway him, UNLESS he pulls out. This sadly is all for show.

@chargrille

As I recall from studying psychology, rewarding a behavior makes it more likely to reoccur. So whatever words come out of our President's mouth, if Israel under Netanyahu has killed 13,000 Palestinian children, and Pres. Biden still wants to give Israel 18 billion in aid, that works out to rewarding Israel 1,384,615 dollars for each child they've killed. That seems less of a way to dissuade Israel from murdering more innocent children, but rather a recipe for genocide. #Palestine

@chargrille Biden actually called for an immediate ceasefire. First time. I know๐Ÿคจ but I actually think the Biden administration is scared, what with Iran promising to retaliate...for the bombing of their embassy. Biden doesn't want a full on war...

@JJand5gypsydogs

The Biden Admin is still engaged in full-on planning meetings for a Rafah invasion with Dermer/Israel.

Talk is cheap. And calls for ceasefire are meaningless because they get walked back in the terms & conditions of the ceasefire, & who gets the pressure & blamed in public for refusing specific terms.
