Not to disagree necessarily, but if you go to whitehouse.gov, there’s a Send Text link towards the bottom of that page that also shows that number.

I wonder if they simply turned the threads federation on for that account yesterday and that’s why it shows April 1 here.

I doubt they could have gotten 2.7M followers in a day.

President Joe Biden’s Threads account has turned on fediverse integration, sending posts to ActivityPub platforms like Mastodon.

@garretble @FinchHaven @potus the account was just federated via ActivityPub but has been in Threads for some time.

1) if I can follow a post-only account what does it matter if they’re not using Mastodon software. That’s the whole point of activity pub.

2/3) That’s just as much POTUS/Biden as the Instagram account and Twitter accounts are - unless I’m missing something

6) April 1 is when they turned on federation. My Threads.net account from last year shows March 20, 2024 on Mastodon

This seems to be an account that posts on Twitter as well. They mention “@VP” which doesn’t exist here.

I’d much rather follow someone like Kamala Harris. She’s the future.
