reply with a short story about your personal history with the #Dreamcast or first #PlayStation and i will feature your words in my magazine and cite your mastodon account (with your permission, of course).

the concept is a page titled "an ode to the (console)" with real testimonials from real people.

it can be as long or as short as you want; it will be included regardless.

the reward is, uh, #RealGamerCred or something.

@buru5
If the story features an emulator and not the console itself, is that permissible?

@DigiVoyager absolutely (not)

just kidding, yes. please send it.

It is very dry and perhaps a little too lengthy, feel free to rephrase it so that it sounds nicer

I wanted to write a whole another essay about Ogre Battle and how it led me down a rabbit of N64 emulation and the frustration I felt when I couldn't play it, and the happiness when I finally did play it on the Wii - being an avid lover of strategy titles and Unicorn Overlord reminding me of it (and Dragon Force) but that'd be too much, hah.

@DigiVoyager

this is perfect, may do some minor grammatical corrections once i am putting it on the page but won't change anything.

how would you like to be cited?

@buru5 Mastodon account is good, something like DigiVoyager @ Mastodon.Social
@DigiVoyager sounds good. incredibly interesting that Tekken is so popular in Pakistan.

@buru5
Yes, Tekken 3 was like lightning in a bottle, it was everywhere - people had it on their consoles, their computers, arcades had custom cabinets with PS1s inside them. Almost everyone in my hometown that was into games wanted a PS2 because of Tekken Tag, 4 and 5 along with GTAs, yet sadly were too poor to get it (low wages)

Our arcade owner tried to introduce some other games too, Dead or Alive 2 being one, KoF MI another but they were all rejected harshly, it was Tekken or bust.

@DigiVoyager is there an arcade in your area that you can you take a few pictures of, by chance?

@buru5
It is long gone, friend. Once PS2s and Xbox 360s became sufficiently cheap, people stopped going for the most part.

There are some Tekken arcades still but they are 530-600 km away

You can see some in this video: https://youtu.be/m_97tM-QUDI?t=202

A Tekken 8 arcade https://youtu.be/KYuRkCidzkM (also over 500 km away, sadly or I too would go and play)

Here is a photo of the one where Arslan plays
