@jramskov@tweece@daringfireball The issue with Lightroom replacements is that many people conflate “image editing" with “digital asset management”. We have lots of decent choices for the former, but very few for the latter, especially if you want it to work in the cloud.
@freediverx@tweece@daringfireball I have used Lightroom for years, but now I rarely use my DSLR anymore because the phones simply become so good. I’m already using Apple Photos too and will likely import all my DSLR pictures, though I actually intend to keep the original RAW files out of it.
@tweece@freediverx@daringfireball It’s more of a space issue, I generally store my photos on a NAS. If I were to store my RAW photos in Apple Photos, the storage requirements would go up a lot and Apple storage is not exactly known for being cheap 😬
@jramskov@freediverx@daringfireball My library is about 1.2tb which sits in iCloud photos fine (for now) but I’m not a photographer for a living just a hobby so I bet your library is way bigger than that
@tweece@freediverx@daringfireball My RAW photos seems to be at around 700GB on my NAS. I think I will be fine with just having the processed images in Photos - will take up a lot less space.
@tweece@freediverx@daringfireball It not about the speed of my internet connection, it’s about not having everything only in the cloud and no backup anywhere else.
