MacBalance@gruber a favorite story from the book about 2001 I read a few years ago is that all the ship flatscreens were rear-projection film projections. They bolted a bunch to the spinning set piece..: and forgot that the reels were held in place by gravity and the projectors were not meant to work upside down.
