Wind is solar. (It is due to differential heating of Earth's surface by the sun, ultimately.)
A favourite memory is a presentation at a solar club meeting someone explaining his solar array, and how he added an experimental wind generator to it.
It was crude, a washing machine motor in a 2 l bottle with a propeller sawn from a 2x4, all duct-taped together. And in its first hour of operation it generated as much as the array on a sunny day.
