GlyphIt seems silly but mastodon’s retreat from the language of “toots” and now even “boosts” ( they’re “reblogs” in the official app now ) is exactly the same dumb-as-rocks discarding of a recognizable brand that Xitter is doing

Exactly. But the developers refer to Mastodon as a microblogging service so they think everyone else uses these terms. They're wrong, but... (shrugs)

Oblomov@badrihippo @glyph well if one wants to be pedantic, Mastodon is a federated microblogging platform, so they are microblogs. But remicroblogging doesn't exactly roll of the tongue.
