ICYMI the House #Republicans finally released a U.S. budget, countering the #BidenAdministration proposal. The GOP budget:
- cuts $1.5 trillion from Social Security
- raises Medicare costs & cuts caps on pharma fees
- cuts Medicaid, ACA/Obamacare & the Children’s Health Insurance Prog by $4.5 trillion over 10 years
- creates $5.5 trillion in tax cuts for the rich and corporations
- eliminates all clean energy tax incentives
- raises Social Security Retirement age to 69

And now, #Biden reaction to #Republican budget proposal:

@GottaLaff
Get #Biden on video staying exactly that and pump it out in every media!

@GottaLaff

Unbelievable that millions of everyday people will vote to support their services being cut.

Mind boggled!

@solownh @GottaLaff nonono not THEIR services, THOSE people's!
@solownh @GottaLaff Oh come on now. Everyone knows that the “leopard eating faces” party only eats other people’s faces. 🐆
@GottaLaff I read this out load to my 93 year old F-i-L. He has short term memory loss so he asked "Who is the President?" I said, "Joe Biden, and he is doing a GREAT JOB!" I told him what the Republicans wanted to do, cut social security & Medicare & give tax cuts to the rich & corporations, Then I read him Biden's letter.
I wish I had recorded it to see the big smile on his face. Then I told him the big troubles Trump is in d how he owes 1/2 a billion to New York & 91m to E Jean Carroll!

@spocko That made me cry.

Tell your FIL I adore him. And you.

@GottaLaff I find Joe Biden so inspiring….
@GottaLaff - How do they spin this?
@steveo1049 I can't possibly think like them.
@GottaLaff @steveo1049 Because you’re not smugly contemptuous & diabolically cruel.

@steveo1049 @GottaLaff That's the trick, they don't have to anymore.

Their tribe will support them unconditionally now. They fundamentally believe in authoritarianism and trust that even if it's painful, their electeds are doing what's right.

@steveo1049 @GottaLaff "Don't worry! We're only cutting benefits for THOSE people!"

@darwinwoodka @steveo1049 @GottaLaff "First they came for..."

Sure, the white trash* will follow their leader... right into the <insert method of execution here>.

* let us call them what they are

@GottaLaff They want to take tax burden from the rich and give it to the poor? So that's how trickle down economics works.
@GottaLaff Do they think SS is part of the budget?
@kimlockhartga Thinking of the Republican budget, "Social Security" was the 2nd thing that occurred to me upon seeing SS.
@GottaLaff
@GottaLaff this was the cover sheet on the gop budget
👇
@GottaLaff Those republicans are always thinking about the common man.

@GottaLaff

that's quite the list of fk you middle and poor america....

@GottaLaff All I see is a doctrine for suffering and oppression.

@GottaLaff "- creates $5.5 trillion in tax cuts for the rich and corporations"

Fucking thieves, that's what they are 😡

@GottaLaff This is such a wildly absurdist caricature of pure evil that it's objectively hilarious.
@GottaLaff If this budget was blasted from the major news organizations, the Republican Party should be buried in any further election especially by any voter over 60. That any American could think those things good for the country shows how far we've sunk.
@GottaLaff The GOP is doing this to prove a point. Their supporters are bad at simple math.

@GottaLaff

Well, that will certainly make an attractive campaign platform!

@GottaLaff This is a gift to the Dems and Biden.

@GottaLaff So Republicans weren't exactly being honest at that State of the Union then. ;) Biden had them spot on. Color me so surprised.

WATCH: ‘We all apparently agree’ on saving Medicare and Social Security, Biden teases during State of the Union

In a rowdy back-and-forth, President Joe Biden accused some congressional Republicans — not a majority — of wanting to “take the economy hostage” by insisting that Medicare and Social Security be sunset, drawing loud boos.

PBS NewsHour
@GottaLaff It's like they put all their time into figuring new ways to prove everything Biden said they'd do is exactly right.

@GottaLaff

Well, in a sense, with every passing week, Trump and the Republicans repaint the dividing line in America, and make it wider. And wider, and wider. And deeper.

By all rights, the liberals should be expecting a tsunami election, but that's not happening. The politics of hate and division are strong, and has a deep history. I'd hate to think we have to relive that history, for absolutely no good reason...there is NEVER a good reason to follow in Hitler's footsteps.

for me, NEVER GOP. NEVER AGAIN. They've shown us more about themselves than we ever wanted to know.

@skydog @GottaLaff
It used to be that idealistic neophyte college kids were liberal, and experienced tax-paying adults were conservative.

Now the College-educated are liberal, and the Facebook-educated are Conservative.

@skydog @GottaLaff Stu, I came to that conclusion when the Bush family started throwing money at "Faith Based Initiatives" and threatened to turn our democracy into a Christian theocracy. Trump has simply ensured that I'll never change my mind!
@GottaLaff I’ll be 60 in a couple of months and, after 5 surgeries over the past 2.5 years, I plan on retiring at 62 and taking SSI. I can’t imagine working until 67 or 69. Hell I want to enjoy however many years I have left. If up to the GOP I’d retire then die.

@GottaLaff

Conservatives need to realize that woke liberals are the least of their problems. Republicans are going to destroy their country and accelerate the destruction of the human race.

@GottaLaff jesus christ. And GOP voters are totally cool with this?
@peteriskrisjanis Salivating.
@GottaLaff they have no clue what they gonna face, do they?

@GottaLaff

The gop really seems to like losing.

@GottaLaff What an absolutely awful budget.
They're being unapologetic cartoon villian evil.
@GottaLaff well, I just woke up from a nap to read all this. I retired at 66 and it was damn hard to get to that age to lock in the number of years I needed to ensure my medical benefits. I was damn tired . My supervisor kept going until she was 72. She died at home in her armchair. The young man who would take her place called me. It’s shocking to get that call when you thought she was home and had just needed a sick day. I’m 71 now and lucky as hell I paid in to social security my whole working life. I have a decent retirement. These Republicans all need to lose. Of course. But what they really need is utter repudiation in a landslide so overwhelming as to kick their asses to kingdom come on a tsunami of HELL NO.
@annietime @GottaLaff What I don't get, is the folks who are on Medicare and Social Security who are cheering on (and voting for) those folks.
@ai6yr @GottaLaff I have to feel that somehow they don’t think these cuts will apply to them. Just all those others out there somewhere (with a vague wave of the hand). I will never understand voting Republican for ANYTHING. It literally is the death party. 🏴‍☠️🏴‍☠️🏴‍☠️🏴‍☠️

@annietime @ai6yr @GottaLaff The Republicans are always careful that Social Security cuts are for younger people. If you are retired or close to it you are safe. Usually.

Considering how many baby boomers are willing to enrich themselves that later generations' expense, this makes sense.

@GottaLaff

@GottaLaff

@GottaLaff
One of those six proposals is actually worth considering!
