It always kinda scares me when I read certain comments. They’re not numerous, but I see more of them each year. They say things like « the woke EU », or the « EUssr », or « socialist EU ».

They’re generally there when I talk about the EU regulating big tech, or fighting abuses of dominant position, and I just don’t understand how anyone can link that kind of activity to being « woke » whatever that means today, or being « socialist » (which in these people’s minds probably means « commie »).

@thelinuxEXP I don't think there's really too much thought after those comments. As Europe steadily drifts back to fascism, anything less than genocide is seen as extremist left.

@kAlvaro @thelinuxEXP True. Seeing all these far right parties gaining voters is insane to me. It was less than 100 years ago that we had to contend with this.

We have to contend with it right now, with Russia… How can people be this blind, I don’t know.

@thelinuxEXP @kAlvaro Nick, you say this because you live in a city, well educated, you seem to be your own boss and (to some extend) have control over the course of your life.
I mean it’s easy to be locked in some kind of bubble and don’t catch what is happening to other people.
The raise of far-right is difficult for me to accept (bluntly: I just can’t accept it) but I have difficulties to condemn **a part** of the people that are falling for these political speeches.

@thelinuxEXP @kAlvaro Some people are truly desperate and it’s also fair to state that national leaders as well as European leaders just failed to address their issues.
Comparatively to the US, China or India, the EU quality of life and economy-security has stagnated and there’s a significant decoupling from people in the EU.

Tough to wake up hanged-over after 20 years of doing the wrong things and suddenly realize “Oh shit people are pissed ! Why ? How ?”

EU cannot keep pace with US and China in economic growth

“Política Exterior” magazine carries out a comparative analysis of the economic growth of the European Union (EU), the United States (US) and China. In its opinion, Europe's decisions in recent years have highlighted its weaknesses in the struggle for global leadership. Europe's slower economic growth would be the consequence of its failure to lead in some of the leading sectors, poor policy decisions, and its inability to keep pace with the US and China, not least because of a less flexible regulatory framework. On the positive side, the EU has established itself as the welfare region par excellence.
