It always kinda scares me when I read certain comments. They’re not numerous, but I see more of them each year. They say things like « the woke EU », or the « EUssr », or « socialist EU ».

They’re generally there when I talk about the EU regulating big tech, or fighting abuses of dominant position, and I just don’t understand how anyone can link that kind of activity to being « woke » whatever that means today, or being « socialist » (which in these people’s minds probably means « commie »).

@thelinuxEXP I think EU cares about what Apple has in their Appstore or what Microsoft has in their Windows search feature, but I don’t see any activity about spreading chinese malware called TikTok. They should reconsider our priorities, I think spreading chinese spyware is a bigger problem than Apple’s Appstore and I see no proactivity there.

@ratatoskr @thelinuxEXP Eu’s policies don’t just target big tech companies in the US, they also target anyone in the same position of power.

Everyone needs to comply with GDPR, everyone needs to comply with DMA etc. If EU only goes after TikTok then that would be hypocritical since they aren’t the only company who collects data about their users.
