How often do you create a separate vault for new projects?

For about two years, I practiced storing all my notes in one place: daily notes, lecture, meetings. Even content for my hobby sites. It was convenient for me when I had a couple of thousand notes stored in one vault, strictly organized into folders.

Now I have 8 separate #obsidian vaults, of which at least two are always open. The vaults have different themes, which serve as an indicator of what I should be focusing on at the moment.

@pink_doublethink I create as few vaults as possible.

1. One for work, to respect my contract.
2. One shared with a friend for a mutual project, since it doesn’t make sense to live within my main vault (though even that I’m rethinking…)
3. One for literally everything else.

Well, and one for testing things on the side but that doesn’t count because it doesn’t used for real vaulty things.

But it really comes down to personal preferences and personal context.
