cleopasI keep seeing various daily bible devotions using The Message in the place of actual scripture for the bible reading. I'm not a KJV-only type, but Eugene Peterson's paraphrase,/commentary is not a substitute for a genuine translation, and I'm sure he didn't intend it to be used this way either.
Chris Taylor@cleopas the 'Bible In A Year' written by Nicky Gumbel does use The Message, but only to support and enhance readings from the NIV. This seems like a reasonable use.
@stillbreathing agree in that using it as "Peterson's commentary" is ok. (I do wish Nicky wouldn't reference Joyce meyer so much in BIOY though.)
