Published in Elsevier journal ‘Surfaces and Interfaces’.

Best part was, when I followed the link, it made me do a Captcha to prove I wasn’t a bot 🤖

The way it has references interspersed after each sentence reminds me of the Microsoft Bing Copilot bullshit bot.

@nadiah

@futuresprog I haven’t tried that one. Is that the one that helps you code? Carlo found ChatGPT pretty useful for learning Go, and I like reading papers together with Claude, but obviously there’s a right and wrong way to use these tools.

It’s the one that is shoe horned into the Windows 11 Task bar.

I guess Bing — from when everyone had to have a search engine covered in advertising — and Cortana — from when everyone had to have a voice assistant — wasn’t sufficient so now they’ve crammed Microsoft Bing Copilot in there.

@nadiah

@futuresprog Oh, I didn’t know they did that! It makes sense they would, though, do everything they can to get as many people using their product as possible.

I went to my gaming PC and found the "Chat" button which opened Bing in Edge (the browser). Then I prompted it for some JavaScript to add to Carlo's website, warning against using Copilot.

Seems to have worked!

@nadiah

@futuresprog lol, I love how cheerfully helpful it is.
@nadiah what, this passed refereeing?
@AndrejPanjkov I know, right? Imagine how you’d feel right now if you had published in that journal recently. Or imagine how you’d feel if they had rejected you!
