It's called controlling the narrative.

"At a Pierre #Poilievre [#AxeTheTax rally] in Corner Brook, NL this evening, where the media was asked to leave following PP's speech preventing us from posing questions to the party leader.
This is highly unusual for an event that the media was invited to cover. I was quite vocal in my opposition to the request. In the end, we had to comply, as it was ‘technically’ a private event and we were there by invitation of the party." - Don Bradshaw NTV News

@gemelliz The arrogance of the man, his hubris and unbridled lust for power are the embodiment of Icarus who embraced the ecstasy of flight and was overcome with the feeling of his divine power. Pierre is drunk on this same godlike lust. But Icarus flew too close to the sun, burnt his wings and plunged to his death. The same fate awaits Pierre. His overreaching ambition fails to respect the delicate balance between aspiration and humility. He will fail. As will those who feed his excess.
