It's called controlling the narrative.

"At a Pierre #Poilievre [#AxeTheTax rally] in Corner Brook, NL this evening, where the media was asked to leave following PP's speech preventing us from posing questions to the party leader.
This is highly unusual for an event that the media was invited to cover. I was quite vocal in my opposition to the request. In the end, we had to comply, as it was ‘technically’ a private event and we were there by invitation of the party." - Don Bradshaw NTV News

"Just found out that we have officially been barred from covering Friday night’s $600-a-plate dinner with Premier Higgs and federal Conservative Leader Pierre #Poilievre."

- Andrew Waugh, 'Brunswick News'

@gemelliz What will be interesting is how you and the other reporters cover this. Guessing it will just be another puff piece about PP

@kimhoar Not a reporter :)

The above comments are from actual reporters in New Brunswick and Newfoundland who've been prevented from reporting on PP's events.
Former St. John mayor Don Darling also commented this evening:
"Voters beware. Pierre #Poilievre is flying all over the country on the taxpayer's dime and refuses to answer questions. When someone shows you who they are, believe them."

@gemelliz The arrogance of the man, his hubris and unbridled lust for power are the embodiment of Icarus who embraced the ecstasy of flight and was overcome with the feeling of his divine power. Pierre is drunk on this same godlike lust. But Icarus flew too close to the sun, burnt his wings and plunged to his death. The same fate awaits Pierre. His overreaching ambition fails to respect the delicate balance between aspiration and humility. He will fail. As will those who feed his excess.
@gemelliz hmm, maybe make that the story? Fasc don't like independent media.

@gemelliz the response to this should always and every time be “fantastic, you’re on a media blackout until you allow questions. You will not be covered, your press releases will be thrown out, and your opponents’ statements about you will be treated as objective fact.”

For all his bluster, PP needs the media; he feeds off their attention, and stunts like this are about provoking coverage. He’s trying to recreate his “Apple man” moment.

@gemelliz "It's my first time seeing him, and I think a lot of his points are very good. And it's good for the working class," he said.

Riiiight....
