There are a lot of old-style houses in this neighbourhood but sunlight and narrow streets made them difficult to photograph. Iโ€™ll see what I can do with editing the images I took on Sunday and post what I think works.

@CommonMugwort These buildings always make me a bit sentimental.

I am no native Greek but spend a lot of time in Athens, and every time I see a house like this, it sparks my imagination of what Athens must have looked like before the #polykatoikies were raised almost everywhere and changed the face of the city drastically.

Thatโ€™s how I feel. It makes me so sad, and also angry. What a beautiful city this must have been, for a little while. What a beautiful city it could have remained!

@CommonMugwort True! ๐Ÿ‘

It's kind of understandable though why the #antiparochi (flats-for-land) deals were such a success in the 50s and 60s. Life is so much more convenient in a โ€œmodernโ€ building with an elevator, hot water, and modern heating.

@CommonMugwort @kernpanik Another reason I appreciate your photos (and yours, even when focused on cats, @kernpanik), I always learn something. Just read the history of polykatoikies and antiparochi, and phew.
