My new favorite band (Hop Along) has a song that demonstrates excellent use of America's most underrated guitar chord, the sublime and very centering `C/G`.

That chorus. Man.

Hop Along - Horseshoe Crabs [Official Audio]

The Best Guitar Chord.
@hotdogsladies almost. It's actually a D/D in dropped-D tuning

@jeffrizzo

This is really funny, Jeff, and I just wanted to say so.

@hotdogsladies "I Will Follow You Into the Dark" by Death Cab and "You're Mine" by Maybe Next Summer both make really good use of these bass note-centric chords. They sound magnificent in context

@markrichard

Great picks! Here's another one from a Barsuk artist I enjoy:

@markrichard

I've only heard Sean Nelson sing harmony on this probably once, but I still hear it and still sing it every time.

@hotdogsladies OMG YOU READ MY MIND

@jeffzugale

TWO OF THE NUMEROUS REASONS TO WRITE SONGS IN G!

@hotdogsladies @jeffzugale works great in many A major applications as well 👊😎👍
@hotdogsladies so into that thumb reach-around
@hotdogsladies whenever I get to futzing with my pedal board, it’s usually at least 30 minutes of repeatedly playing the C/G and then lifting the finger(usually the index for me) that’s playing the C on the high B string so it becomes an open ringing B, while I dial in my overdrive and amp. That little combo of chords is like drugs to me

@calebdenman

You can just strum it over and over. Fast or slow, hard or easy.

It's like dropping a goddamned battleship anchor.

@hotdogsladies and then you move to the D/F#?! It’s like gunning the engines and turning hard to the starboard for a wraparound after dropping that goddamned battleship anchor
@hotdogsladies jus gonna do a lil wraparound
@hotdogsladies I’m a big fan of Dmaj/F# (on low E) myself
@hotdogsladies It’s the difference between “Queen Bitch” sounding right and not quite.
@hotdogsladies A very popular chord with Jonathan Coultan.

@hotdogsladies Gregory Alan Isakov uses it a ton with a capo on 3rd fret. So good.
