I'm inspired to see many long-standing Fediverse supporters, moderators, admins, and code contributors volunteer their expertise for Discovery Week! I can't wait to learn from you all.

But we're missing some important voices: Non-technical users.

Which is why I have a favor to ask: Please share this post with someone you know who is a casual, non-technical user of Mastodon or any social platform. I want to make sure we're hearing from a wide range of perspectives!

Hey Fedizens,

I work with a lot of old people, and as you can imagine, many of them have vision issues and/or difficulty reading. What screen readers do you recommend for ease of use? Think: if you were going to ask your grandma to set up a screen reader without walking her through every step, is there a decent tool you'd recommend?

Thank you! And please boost liberally unless there's, like, one definitive answer and I'm just ignorant of it.

#blind

I saw a meme asking if y you'd rather live with a man-sized pigeon or 20 pigeon-sized men, and I have been daydreaming about what a great sitcom that would make. Just 20 dudes running around a house, getting crushed by furniture and having guy antics.
@boxspring would buy
I know that the #gearsquad has talked in the past about modelers vs. actual tube amps, but I think we missed some new technology in the field:

@Alice You are most certainly NOT holding it wrong. If that's even possible with Mastodon.

And the 50 bazillion other neurodivergents here would agree because, well, they do the same damn thing. Dog bless them.

Doing stuff is always torturous but having done stuff is always amazing.
Another win for procrastination: a few weeks ago I discovered that the "master multitrack" of a band of mine was burned to CD-R in HFS (not HFS+) format. Good thing I've never finished cleaning up and wiping my old iMac running High Sierra! Discs transferred and the process of matching up little fragments of vocals with where they go in the song has been completed for the song I wanted a remix of (round about method because it was done in Logic which I don't have).
