Rivian, the carmaker, showed two new models today. The R2 is a big SUV while the R3 is a smaller, hatchback-looking SUV. Although an SUV, its design is a brave choice for the North American market that usually doesn't show love for hatchbacks, indicating Rivian's potential European plans. And with its strong VW Golf, Fiat Ritmo and Lancia Delta resemblance, it definitely wouldn't look out-of-place on European roads, like Tesla cars are.

One piece of info I wasn't able to find anywhere on the 'net - length! We know R3 is ~4.7 meters long, and ~1.75 meters high - quite a lot. Judging by the photos, R3 will be equally tall, but the length is totally unknown - the only length I've managed to find is its wheelbase - 2800mm. So, after downloading a few presskit photos and drawing some lines, I have a rough estimate - it'll be about 4.2 meters long. Nice!
4.2 meters (you've read it here first!) is about the same as many popular European models like the Ford Puma, Audi Q2, Nissan Juke, Renault Captur, VW T-Roc, Škoda Kamiq and just slightly longer than the VW T-Cross, DS3, Kia Stonic, Citroën C3 Aircross, Suzuki Vitara, Hyundai Bayon and Toyota Yaris Cross. So a very European-sized car!
The release date is scheduled for 2026, let's see how my predictions turn out!
