How do y’all categorize your magic cards? Color, and rarity? Or do you also do mana cost and type also? Wondering how deep I want to venture for this task. #magicthegathering #mtg
@ClydapusGotwald By set and then by collector's number
@ClydapusGotwald Rarity, then color, then set. It doesn't make a lot of sense, but it's too much work to change it
@ClydapusGotwald By sell price, so I know what I can take to the LGS and what I can toss.
@ClydapusGotwald i sort by set, then rarity, then color, then alphabetical.
Also I actually store all my rares separately from commons and uncommons because I'm most likely to just dig through the rares box when building a deck.
@ClydapusGotwald For me, the initial separation is R+M(normal), R+M(fancy), C+U(normal), C+U(fancy), nonbasics, basics. Then sort each of those by color. For C+U(normal) I also sort by card type, then MV within that type. So all of my monoblue 1MV nonfoil nonboosterfun creatures are together, basically.
@ClydapusGotwald Color then rarity, lands count as having no color and as such are right next to artifacts.
I tried to do set but honestly switching around 100+ cards every time I want to try out a new card in a deck grew tiring
@ClydapusGotwald Rarity then color. I also try and keep anything over $5 in a seperate binder for quick access.
@ClydapusGotwald Color identity (I play Commander) -> Alphabetical. I have also aggressively pared down my collection by getting rid of cards worth <$5.
