Wendy’s planning Uber-style ‘surge pricing’ where burger prices fluctuate based on demand - Lemmy.World

everything in the world is getting worse in the stupidest way possible for the worst reasons!!! will employee wages be dynamic based on demand! of course not!

What straight out of MBA school dipshit thought this up?
If the lower limit is close to continued operating costs then I’m all for it. Plus, we can cut down on the corporate dipshits on payroll who decide pricing if the prices automatically adjust to Supply Demand Equilibrium.
You should know that’s not how it’s going to work
Yeah this means “Our lowest prices will continue to increase normally to ensure the profit margin we currently have. We are then going to gouge customers when things get busy.”
Want to pay more and wait longer? Try Wendy’s new peak pricing.
Oh, wonderful! Just what I was looking for!
But if you preorder now
You’ll get not two, but one Wendy’s burger for the price of two!
If you have a diploma or degree, I think you should ask for a refund.
Reminds me of a bar that did this. It was wall Street themed. Of course we talked about it in B school. Lol
there’s one in DC that treats the beers like the stock market. there’s a ticker up on the wall and you can see the live price is coming up and down

Difference there being that the people are in the bar for a while and ordering several drinks and the price is displayed pretty prominently with immediate updates. I’d be a little pissed if I went to Wendy’s and did not know how much I would be spending because too many others were also going.

Also, that bar thing is a fairly common gimmick. The pricing is never outrageously different.

And it only really works for Uber because people are drunk and don’t have good judgment and people don’t want to be stuck out in the cold when the bar closes.

And by “work” I mean it’s price gouging.

For a place like Wendy’s it makes no sense. Once you know the price fluctuates, you’ll just go somewhere else for some fast food.

Saint Friedman. Do you even capitalism, bro?
