boost to scare a rust developer
@kouett cw this please
@codl @kouett no. rust developers do not deserve to know peace
@codl @kouett most underrated comment ๐Ÿ˜น
@kouett whats scary about this i write my own alloc relatively frequently โ€‹

@kouett

I feel it like with manual breathing - I'm now taking memories manually. FPS of my existence just dropped radically.

@[email protected] and also me, sitting on my rickety throne of heap allocations
@kouett allocating is easy, it's the freeing where they get you
@kouett this would hurt a C# dev more imo
@kouett us developers of a certain vintage get to feel smug and look down upon the sweet summer children once again
@s ๐Ÿ˜Œ *segmentation fault*
@kouett Iโ€™m not scared of allocating memory by hand, but you should be scared of me doing so!
@[email protected] mmap my beloved โ€‹โ€‹
@kouett I have a project that both uses asm and rust. It's funny how in rust world I make everything safe, but with asm I will do the most cursed things. Like sure, write arbitrary data over this code because I won't run it again.
@kouett I would guess that Rust developers are more afraid of garbage collection than they are of manual memory management.
@kouett Allocating is fine. Freeing is where they get you!
