@toplesstopics hey so as someone who's been here for a year but still feels like too much of a newb to join a smaller instance, is mastodon.online seen as a problem like .social is?

@ephesossh @toplesstopics .social is a problem? Why? That's where I am so maybe that's why I'm ignorant. I haven't heard from @neilhimself for a while now you mention it. His toots used to be quite prolific

I'm not up on the full story, but it seems from other comments that it's had some lax moderation and that has made federating with other instances contentious at times

@ephesossh @RainyDaze @toplesstopics I disagree, it’s big so there’s lots of content. Some of it will offend some people but that doesn’t make it wrong. Unfortunately, there’s a gatekeeping issue with mastodon where some instances defederate at the drop of a hat. (The meme: An admin of your instance once favourited a post I’m uncomfortable with- you should change instance)
