@vampiress made me do this. I kept the joystick I played the original DOS versions of X-Wing and Tie Fighter with. Here it is. Behold its majesty
@codinghorror @vampiress That's stunning! Tried F19 Stealth Fighter with it?
@codinghorror @vampiress I had almost the same one! Mine was a Mac one so it was 90s beige and grey.
@codinghorror @vampiress having grown up in the arcade and being left handed, I never managed to use joystick with buttons on the *left* side. Was this configuration very common? My classic DOS gaming was mostly done via keyboard and mouse. (Edited: I mixed left and right, which was indeed the whole point of the post...)
@codinghorror @vampiress I had a black one of those for playing wing commander
@codinghorror @vampiress Oh man I had one of those in the 90's, not with a clear case though. I don't remember it being that great though.
@codinghorror @vampiress
O_o
I have that exact same joystick, clear case and all
It was a sad day when I put all of my old, non USB joysticks and flightsticks in a card board box and gave them away, knowing they were past their prime and would probably never find a good home. I did keep my Commodore 128 joysticks though.
