⚠️ Notice: Someone is reaching out by email to creators pretending to be from the Inkscape project to solicit partnerships.

They have used the name “Inkscape PhotoEditor,” which does not exist. This is not us.

Any official invitations to collaborate from the project will be listed prominently on our website.

@Krita @GIMP @Blender

Do your users experience the same thing?

@inkscape @Krita @Blender We have seen by the past a bunch of similar emails, yes. Not necessarily exactly the same as you describe, and possibly not by the same people (or maybe yes), but similar enough patterns at least.

I do remember having received emails specifically targetted at creators using GIMP for instance (I can't recall exactly what they were trying to pull).

Unfortunately it's hard to warn people about scams since we don't have (nor want) lists of people ourselves!

@inkscape

I hope most of the content creators know that Inkscape isn't a photo editor.

@orsinium @inkscape not all creators use Inkscape, so we can imagine that some of them don't know what it is
@inkscape If I recall correctly, some years ago similar thing happen to @darktable, under a wrong name too. Except it wasn't about partnership or sponsor, it was about selling a fake version of the software.
@inkscape it's been happening to the misskey project too
@inkscape Mullvad also had that a bit ago, maybe a somewhat organised thing?

* By that I mean one group had success so everyone else is following

@inkscape Same vibes as this:

Be careful out there.

@inkscape Damn 😤 , There goes my chance to add "Inkscape Photo Editor", "Inkscape Comic Artist" "IInkscape Professional Artist" to my resume. . . Now it's been tainted !!! 😤
