Replies pooh-pooh the racism this story by noting the exclusion was about Fitzgerald being a jazz artist and unglamorous — except that jazz originated in Black American culture, and "unglamorous" is a dog whistle referring to fat phobic discrimination.

In other words, Monroe supported a fat Black American woman musical artist who performed Black American music. Monroe was an ally twice over defending against race and anti-fat discrimination.
