46. The Byrds - Greatest Hits
Supposedly a great band in history, so bought it for a few euros. Well, apart from Eight Miles High I think this is really boring.

47. Various Artists - 25 Jaar Bullit (2004)
Bullit in Eindhoven was where me and my metalbuddy Karel went to in the 80’s for our metalalbums, by bike for 15 km.
When he bought Bonded by Blood, I chose Master of Puppets, so we could tape it for each other right away when we got back.
19 years ago Bullit was there for 25 years and this record was to celebrate with (at the time)(sort of) Eindhoven’s finest.
48. Camera - Remember I Was Carbon Dioxide (2014)
Playing kraut is easy, but playing good kraut is more of a challenge. This one’s awesome and inspired
(Which cannot be said of the liveshow I saw, one of the most uninspired shows I ‘ve ever seen)
49. Isobel Campbell & Mark Lanegan - Hawk (2010)
Been fortunate to be able to see Lanegan 6 or 7 times, and I was of course mesmerized by his voice everytime. From his show with Isobel Campbell I mostly remember that she forgot her first lines in a song, gestured to the band to stop and saved it in a very charming way. Heck, Lanegan even smiled!
50. Candlemass - Ancient Dreams (1988)
‘Darkness has faaaahaallen…
In Paradaaaaaiiiaaase!’
Still great to sing along after all these years. Riffs are huge!
51. Johnny Cash - At San Quentin (1969)
Never been much of a Cash fan or a country fan in general* but the vibe on this record is electric!
https://album.link/nl/i/824812884
* The Harrow & The Harvest by Gillian Welch is one of the most beautiful records ever tho
52. Carpenters - The Singles 1969 - 1973 (1973)
I guess we’ve reached the sweetest spot in my collection. What a voice and how easy and smooth does her singing sound. Simply astonishing.
53. Carpenters - Now & Then (1973)
2 albums Carpenters is a bit too much. The sleeve is excellent tho #HahaNo
54. Cathedral - The Guessing Game (2010)
Good albumtitle, cause I’m still not sure whether putting sixties vibes into your #stonerdoom works. It does work in Funeral of Dreams tho, that’s a killersong
55. Cave - Neverendless (2011)
Within minutes of hearing Cave for the first time they were among my favorite bands.
56. Cave - Threace (2013)
Within minutes after hearing Cave for the first time they were among my favorite bands.
I love repetition!
57. Cellvoice - One (1998)
Relaxed breakbeat / triphop / electro
58. Circle - Taantumus (2001)
When Circle takes the kraut-road they’re utterly brilliant.
59. Circle - Zopalki (1996)
Another krautclassic from these weird Finnish bunch. (Weird ánd Finnish seems redundant, cause a lot of freaky and weird music comes from there)
10 track album
60. London Symphony Orchestra - Classic Rock (1978)
Didn’t have very high expectations of this one, and this turned out right. Only Whole Lotta Love was okay, with a sort of original take. The rest: nice to hum along…
61. Coldcut - Sound Mirrors (2006)
The album art is way better than the music.
62. Comets on Fire - Avatar (2006)
Freakrockin’ psychedelic space at the highest level. Awesome!
#BlackCrowesOnGoodAcid
63. Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young - Déjà Vu (1970)
I discovered’ this one pretty late (like 10 years ago) but it got a special place in my heart very quickly.
64. Cult of Luna - Eternal Kingdom (2008)
There’s a lot of generic postmetal out there, but this one is right there at the top. Especially Ghost Trail is a monstertrack!
65. Dälek - Gutter Tactics (2009)
Nice christmas vibe these militant and noisy guys bring :)
66. Deep Purple - Made in Japan (1972)
My love for Sabbath and Zeppelin is bigger, but this live album is ace, look at the song list!
67. Desert Mountain Tribe - Either That or the Moon (2016)
No-nonsense spacerock with indiefeel. Nothing wrong with that.
68. The Devil’s Blood - Come Reap (2008)
Some 20 years ago Selim was my coworker and we bonded pretty quickly. He was fan of my band and I loved his doom-outfit Red King Rising. A few years later I heard the demo for his new band The Devil’s Blood. Although it sounded crappy, the songs were a whole new level. I was an instant fanboy and probably always will stay a fanboy.
69. The Devil’s Blood - The Time of No Time Evermore (2009)
Damn, that middle part of House of 10.000 Voices! Christ or Cocaine! And what about The Anti-Cosmik Magick! And… yea it’s brilliant all over.
70. The Devil’s Blood - The Thousandfold Epicentre (2011)
There’s so so so much (black) magic songs an parts on this record . My favourite TDB album, this one (and as you can tell from the second photo, I’m a fanboy yup)
71. The Devil’s Blood - III: Tabula Rasa or Death and the Seven Pillars (2013)
Selim was a funny and entertaining dude. He chose to embrace his demons, instead of trying to run from them. That came with a lot of musical gems but also the decision to quit halfway making this album. Lyrics of the 22 minute opener I Was Promised A Hunt has the words ‘My words were never made for you to hum…’
72. Les Discrets - Arrietes Oubliées (2012)
First time I heard Les Discrets was at #Roadburn 2015 and was immediately mesmerized by the sheer beauty of their music. This album is equally excellent.
73. Doe Maar - 4US (1983)
74. Don Caballero -World Class Listening Problem (2006)
Not always in the mood for math rock
75. Het Droste Effect - Het Droste Effect / Lingerland
Friends with bands: buddy Hermann made some great spacestoner, with Thompson and some more sweet Eindhoven people. 2 EP’s are in this awesome package, including an oldschool slide
https://hetdrosteeffect.bandcamp.com/album/het-droste-effect
https://hetdrosteeffect.bandcamp.com/album/lingerland
4 track album
76. DOOL - Here Now There Then (2017)
DOOL is absolutely my favorite Dutch band from the last few years. The perfect combination of doomy, gloomy vibes and catchy rock. Taking inspiration from The Devil’s Blood (including having 3 guitar players so it’s still heavy during twin solos) they absolutely deliver.
77. DOOL - Summerland (2020)
And Summerland is even better. Title track is a monster and the record is packed with hooks.
78. Various - Double Hard (1981)
Big names, decent compilation, but not my cup of tea anymore. Except Ace of Spades, Demolition Boys, Doctor Doctor and Paranoid of course.
79. Earthless - Rhythms From a Cosmic Sky (2007)
get yo freakjam on. Psychedelic jambands can be boring but Earthless delivers.
80. Earthless - Live at Roadburn (2008)
More jamming goodness. Too bad this was at one of the few Roadburns I missed.
81. Eboman - Sampling Madness Pt. 1 (1996)
One of the top bigbeat releases in the hayday of the Chemical Brothers and imho just as good. Too bad he made some other careerchoices after this.
https://www.discogs.com/release/90194-Eboman-Sampling-Madness-Pt-1
83. Editors - The Back Room (2005)
Love all the indie darlings (Munich, Blood, Sparks, …), the whiney slow songs not so much.
85. Elder - Dead Roots Stirring (2011)
Full of hooks, riffs, psychedelics and heaviness. Awesomeness all around! Dead Roots Stirring is a killer record. Their Roadburn show was something very special too.
87. Esben and the Witch - A New Nature (2014)
The trumpet in The Jungle is marvelous and the coverphoto as well.
88. Exodus - Pleasures of the Flesh (1987)
Not excellent all over, but Till Death Do Us Part, Chemi-Kill and the title song slay like a mf
89. Explosions in the Sky - Those Who Tell the Truth Shall Die, Those Who Tell the Truth Shall Live Forever (2001)
There were loads of postrock bands who were trying to mimic Mogwai and Godspeed You! Black Emperor but Explosions in the Sky surely created their own spot in the postrock-universe. Awesome album. Listen how the drums seem to be in the middle of your living room in Have You Passed Through This.
90. Fanfare St. Nicasius Heeze - In Diamant
yes yes different cookie this
https://www.discogs.com/release/14201179-Fanfare-St-Nicasius-Heeze-In-Diamant
91. Fat Boys - Big & Beautiful (1986)
Continuing the eclecticism with these oldschool giants.
My younger brother had a short hiphop phase in his teens, and this one was his. He also had License To Ill, but unluckily he destroyed it with too vigorous scratching.
92. Fatso Jetson - Archaic Volumes (2010)
Mario Lalli is one of the key people in the Desert scene, his bands played on the the first generatorparties in the desert where the Kyuss dudes got the holy spirit. He also contributed to Desert Sessions and Yawning Man. Fatso Jetson brings some more weirdness to the scene. And weirdness is always ok!
Back Road Tar is my favorite song of the album.
93. Filmen Met Geluid: 12 Veelgevraagde ‘Geluidssferen’ (1972)
One of the hidden gems in my collection. Absolutely in awe after listening, or better: experiencing these brilliant pieces. Listen to the suspense in ‘ Op het station’ and the crushing dynamics in ‘Aan de autosnelweg’. Truely inspiring!
https://www.discogs.com/release/1553734-No-Artist-Filmen-Met-Geluid-12-Veelgevraagde-Geluidssferen
94. Flairck - Gevecht met de Engel (1980)
It ‘s nice and beautiful and well played and also: very boring.
95. Föllakzoid - II
Played it twice because repetition makes kraut and psych even better and better.
96. Ghost - Opus Eponymous (2010)
Popmusic for metalpeople!
Come sing with me, like I did all afternoon yesterday:
THIS CHAPEL OF RITUAL
SMELLS LIKE DEAD HUMAN SACRIFICES
FROM THE ALTAR BED
97. Ghost - Meliora (2015)
This is a 11/10 album. Closer Deus in Absentia sounds like it was written by the ABBA dudes/dudettes themselves, on a very good songwriting day.
The artwork is pretty decent as well
98. Beth Gibbons & Rustin Man - Out of Season (2002)
https://album.link/us/i/1443794694
Rustin Man’s music is excellent, but hey: it’s Beth Gibbons singing!
99. gifkip & Lupu Negru - Split EP (2005)
Listening to your own record 19 years after its release is ehmmm special. Feels like I can be totally honest about it without feeling like bragging or being embarrassed. I actually like our song [Saikousou’ matik] a lot! Although we clearly should have made some other choices about 8 minutes in LOL
Listen for yourself :)
#Eindhoven friends Lupu Negru bring 3 damn tasty stonersongs on the flipside!
from the album Loose Ends
95a. Frankie and the Witch Fingers -S/T (2015)
Is it psych with garagerock or the other way around? Anyway: yeah!
102. GNOD - Live At Roadburn 2012 (2017)
Never been blown off my feet as GNOD managed to do at the Patronaat. Still in awe thinking about it now.
103. GNOD - Chaudelande vol. 1 (2011)
Tron is such a monstertrack!
104. GNOD - Chaudelande vol.2 (2012)
More of the same, so that’s good! You can even sing along with Man on the Wire!
105. GNOD - Ingnodwetrust (2011)
All it takes to make me happy is a steady motorik-groove with space sounds that keep going for 20 minutes.
@knaaq absolutely.
There's this video from Hellfest 2016 when they opened their set with Spirit and I love everything about it:
