My Mastodon report card:

* This where I get the most social engagement.
* The engagement I receive is from a community that is familiar to me.
* I haven’t experienced any performance or functional issues in a long time.
* My timeline home is funny, helpful, and newsworthy.
* Brands aren’t here. The separation is a healthy thing, I can follow them elsewhere.
* Web interface is still "meh", Ivory is lovely.
* I pay for this service. You should, too. https://www.patreon.com/mastodon/posts

@Riduidel @rands +1 for elk.zone on desktop, Ivory on iPad for me.

@rands

Agreed on all points, except I find the web interface to be just fine. 🙂

I have tried some other web interfaces and a few Android apps, but to me the standard web interface works best. My only grumble is that in the advanced interface (which I don't use because of this) is not being able to resize the columns.

@rands yes, I've tested many times posting the same thing on several places to see where I receive the most consistent engagement with scicomm. Mastodon is just more consistent and intellectually satisfying engagement. The others are more boom and bust. Here, there's no algorithm here being a middleman, and it feels like people are reading rather than performing
@rands give @phanpy a try, I replaced Ivory with it

@rands @siracusa
Only performance issues I’ve seen are some “server busy” post refusals. And I think every time an immediate retry worked.

It always feels great to find some companies here.
