I'm gonna design my next keyboard with a spot for a phone in it.
like a model-M clone but it is designed to dock a samsung galaxy S##.

fuck virtual keyboards

I thought I'd check to see if anyone had made a clip-on sliding case for my phone but found this.

thankfully this isn't an actual keyboard. it's just a weirdly design print for a case. but I kinda want to make it real

@foone Oh yeah I know @Nash076 used to use an actual clip-on sliding keyboard case for a phone back in the early days of smartphones. He even modified the case portion when he upgraded phones and there wasn't one available for the new phone he got.

Nowadays there's the Clicks case for iPhone, but that's about it. It's not even sliding.
@foone They say once you get used to typing on a DZ8AF keyboard, it's actually much faster and more comfortable.

@foone I fruitlessly made a similiar search for my Pixel 7a once, as well as my previous phones.

So, eventually I just said "eff it", bought a cheap small Bluetooth keyboard, one of those hinged arms with a Magsafe/Qi2 mount that you are supposed to stick to the back of a monitor, and a case for my phone that gives it the necessary magnetic mounting point to create a makeshift "palmtop"-style setup.

@foone Here is the toot I made about it at the time so you can see a pictrure of it: https://kind.social/@Bright5park/110680555074595026

Attached: 1 image Good news, everyone! I have turned my Pixel 7a into a makeshift palmtop! All it takes is a Magsafe-compatible case, a small Bluetooth keyboard, and a Magsafe phone holder with a hinge and an adhesive strip. Works like a charm! I can now thumbtype much more comfortably, and with existing haptic feedback!

Be More Kind
@foone and you wonder why your computers are cursed...
@foone
Hmm, I thought there was at least one phone case keyboard reminiscent of the AlphaGrip, where you typed with the fingers that were supporting the phone, around the back. Not finding evidence though
@foone I keep looking at it trying to find some sense but there really isn't any 🥲
@foone pen holders are so 80s, phone holders are all the rage now
@foone matias made a keyboard like that with the old dock connector called the tactile one
Clicks Keyboard gives your phone new superpowers

Turn your smartphone into a productivity machine with Clicks. A premium keyboard case with real buttons, more screen space and customizable shortcuts for iPhone, Pixel and Razr.

@foone mechanical keyboard, phone sized screen dock and... fresnel lens. Then I'm sold.
@foone The lights-area on my M122 is pretty exactly phone sized. I should pop a USB-C in the case to plug in there.

@foone I know you are joking around but there is something similar from logitech, bluetooth and not usb-c and the keys are not great, but it can switch between 3 different paired bluetooth devices and can stand up a phone or tablet easily with its heavy steel base and slot. https://www.logitech.com/en-us/products/keyboards/k780-multi-device-wireless-keyboard.920-008149.html

something like this but with better key switches would probably fit your bill.

Logitech K780 Multi-Device Wireless Keyboard

Shop K780 Keyboard. Features mobile device holder, num pad, quiet keys, easy switch buttons, 24 month battery, auto-sleep mode, dual connectivity, and more

@foone Like the #Blusb Controller for the #ModelM that provides #USB (and optionally #Bluetooth with wireless useability thanks to a rechargeable LiPo battery) but with like a USB-OTG hub?
