I have wondered if these special devices have different access to the undocumented backdoor hardware?

Perhaps if they do then that is how that hardware existence was somehow discovered and reverse engineered?

@lorenzofb The instructions say that it has “the flexibility of a jailbroken device”, which is explicitly not referring to this device as jailbroken.
