Here’s a little something to help you get acquainted with Mastodon.

I've also written a tutorial on the same subject: https://tikli.neocities.org/resources/gswmastodon

@tikli it seems that even ever first joining on August, there are still lot things to do
@minachan95 Hey, you HAVE added metadata to your profile! It’s those four slots where you can put whatever info you want and label it accordingly. So, you have a bingo! 🙌
@tikli Oh, do I?
I haven't notice that xD
So, yay~
@minachan95 Yep, the phrase “metadata” might not ring any bells for several other users either, but that’s what those four “put whatever you want here” slots are called.

@tikli

For the advanced one, I have one bingo, anyway...
A couple of these I doubt I'll ever fill out, as I don't think I'd make a new instance or migrate from .art since it's so nice

I *could* probably cross off the 3rd party app one, since I've stuck with Tusky all these years, but admittedly I haven't tried any others, so maybe it's *not* the one for me.

So far, so good.

@tikli @FediTips I still have a few of those to go, starting with backing up everything.
@tikli I have all the table but "found a third party app that works for me" still using the web interface is 10x better than anything on Android.
@tikli gosh I apparently only have one bingo huh , like each row/column I tried there was one thing I did not do haha
@minekpo1 Well, maybe some of those are things you can easily do to get that bingo! 😂
@tikli Making progress...

"Quote post"? - where's that button?
#Mastodon

@spacemagick @tikli Okay, so I was curious about this as well. Looked into it and "quote posting" on Mastodon seems to be replying to a post, and boosting your own reply, like I've done with my post. I've linked below a fedi.tips post with a qoute from one of the devs on the quote post feature, and an explanation of what "qoute posting" means in this context from what I can find. I've also heard folks referring to qoute posts as just posting a link to an original post which I've also done at some point or another. It's a strange state of affairs, but here we are.

So, no button then. :-)
I know the question used to be on the devs' to-do list some time ago but now I see it probably won't happen - and I fully appreciate why.
Including a link to another post is something I do from time to time but I've never been able to summon the ego to re-post myself LOL.
That's a bit like the Diaspora trick I discovered to include a newly uploaded image in a reply (which isn't allowed).
Interesting stuff - thanks!

@spacemagick @beunice Some apps (like Mona) do have a specific button for quote posting, but all it does is that it automatically adds the URL of the post that’s being quoted to your own post. So, quoting is just linking to another post and adding your own comment in your own post. If you don’t tag the OP, they won’t get notified of the quote post.
@tikli my bingo card is pretty full! Thanks for sharing.😀
@tikli
Does blocking an entire domain count for the "blocked or muted an account" square
@tikli Great bingo card! I think I’m settling in here!!!
@tikli "qouted post"? On mastodon? Is it possible?
@didleth In practice it just means that you copy the URL of the post you want to quote to your own post. Some apps have a quote button that does this automatically. Unless you tag OP to your post, they won’t get notified that you quoted them. And the quote post is not linked to the original post the same way QRTs a work on Twitter. You can go to the oriental post from the quote post, so it’s one-way linking.
