@Jedigirl
These things can't all be controlled through a central office, there are jobs where you can't make a living wage, for people who want to supplement their income, if you're in a job that doesn't cover your basic needs it's up to you (not the government) to decide whether or not to stay in that job...enough with the nanny state. People need to be better decision makers not have their decisions made by the state
@zombywoof @Jedigirl Funny this. The state is us. In a democracy we are all responsible. What you suggest is that we should stop organising in institutions because the weak don't deserve protection. If you are rich enough you can hire a militia to protect your property.
@JosjeT @Jedigirl
I'm not saying that
I think the really weak need some kind of support
But
I think too many people are looking to the government to solve their problems
If the job you're in isn't cutting it for you financially don't ask the government to supplement your income. Get a job that satisfies your budgetary needs, there are plenty out there.
We've become bad decision makers in north America & dependence on government is contributing to it
@zombywoof @Jedigirl I get what you're thinking. I am not sure that your analyses is true.
@JosjeT @Jedigirl
I have to add the government isn't the only reason we've become bad decision makers
(when I say "we've" I mean society in general)
We've been played by Madison Avenue and political action influences for many decades pretending to want to take care of us or sell us something that should make our lives easier. Neither socialism or free enterprise can deliver everything society needs, the individual needs to do his/her part.
