I can't wait until we have working 3D scanners. If I were to speculate, though, it seems more likely that we will witness the emergence of 3D models crafted by artificial intelligence using photographic data, prior to the widespread availability of 3D scanners as consumer hardware.

@fribbledom I guess you should then clarify your definition of "working 3d scanner", since that definitely looks like a "working 3d scanner" to me.

The resolution of these scanners is ridiculous. It may work for big statues and other objects that lack any detail, but that's about it.

The proprietary drivers and software are painful to use and require so much post-processing, you may as well start modelling from scratch.
