There are three primary archetypes for visionOS usage that I can see:

1) On a couch, consuming media/movie watching
2) At a desk, with physical keyboard and mouse/trackpad
3) Wandering around your house, using the virtual keyboard

Where do your apps fit in? Have you identified a different niche that makes sense for you?

(I have, of course, seen the fun 'painting a picture at the park’ videos of the Quest 3, but that's probably not a normal use case 😛)

@stroughtonsmith I have a similar mental model for use cases. My hope is that Widgetsmith fits into the second case where you set up a virtual workspace and occupy it for a while, using a variety of apps concurrently. And so putting little bits of information or personalization all around you could be nice. It will be very interesting to discover if that’s right or if the actual use cases are wildly different than I can imagine.
@_Davidsmith @stroughtonsmith Thats what I’m hoping for with Voice in a Can - place a small Alexa puck (using a volumetric window style) somewhere in your environment and get on with your main work, just glancing at it to use it when you want to.
@stroughtonsmith I’m really hoping for some good inspiration around the third but no keyboard
@stroughtonsmith Dictation too in that 3rd mode

@stroughtonsmith I really think the sweet spot is between (1) and (2). I already have lots of screen space at my desk, but just have a small laptop screen when I'm comfy on the couch.

With visionOS, I imagine a lot more computing happening on the couch, probably with a bluetooth keyboard on my lap.

@stroughtonsmith a variation on option 2, I’m hoping that one day, after my van is converted, I’ll be able to sit or stand in my small #vanlife space but feel like I’m at my desk with multiple large displays.
@wplate @stroughtonsmith I was wondering if/how #FinalCut will work in VisionOS. Could be super useful in the field.
@stroughtonsmith 4) in the bathroom, taking a meeting
@stroughtonsmith I just can’t imagine sitting around with that thing on my head for any length of time. I have all the Apple stuff, but have no interest in this. Working with that on? 🤮
@stroughtonsmith Main issue is with the first one, it is an isolated/isolating experience - if you live with someone, there's no easy 'shared experience’ there. "Worst" case is you need to buy two of them, but as of now there's no 'sync and enjoy together' option.

@stroughtonsmith
I could also imagine a variant of 2 on long train journeys/flights.

It *might* make working in those spaces more viable. (The tray table could accommodate input devices perhaps better than a whole laptop.)

If we were to successfully displace more flights with longer train journeys it could be useful.

Just because I imagine it doesn’t mean it’ll happen, mind.
