@kmcshane My spouse used to brew his own beer, but it involved too many trips up and down from the basement with really heavy things, and a few knee operations, so now he just buys it. BUT before that people would tell him how great his beer was (it was!) and say, "You should do this for a living" or enter it in some competition or... but he always replied that it would take all the joy out of the effort. And joy was what made it with doing.

@kmcshane My latest hobby is repairing instruments. Because I don't have a reputation (and don't want one, because bureaucracy of a company and responsibility for someone else's beloved item), a lot of it is buy-repair-sell. Saving stuff from closets or from going to trash, and seeing the expressions of people getting their new instrument, is almost as rewarding as the "work" itself. But I'm always afraid it'll become this comic.

@kmcshane I’ve been making resin jewelry for about 6 months and showing photos on FB. “You should have an Etsy!” they say. NO. Taxes, accounting, promotion, just hell NO.
As of now I’ve got about 36 pieces to give away each day at #SkullAndRoses in April and it’s gonna be soooo much fun!!

@kmcshane I did this with drones back in 2010, before they were even called drones. Closed the online shop nearly 8 years ago, and only just got back into it now.

@kmcshane My hobby of soap making is an exception - I enjoy making it and if I couldn't sell it, I'd either get to do it only a few times a year or be stuck with all these batches of soap because you can only give it to friends and family so many times before they start looking at you funny.

@kmcshane can relate, lost my passion for creating music by trying to make it my dayjob a long time ago…
