PSA for iOS and macOS users: there are two recent opt-in security features you can turn on easily for a significant upgrade in security.

Advanced Data Protection — end-to-end encryption for iCloud data (incl. backups!)

Contact Key Verification — key transparency and verification codes for iMessage

@filippo I’ve had mixed success with ADP. After turning it on via my iPhone I couldn’t authorise viewing files via iCloud.com. The process got stuck somehow. Curious to hear whether others have better luck!
@lmb @filippo Given that "it just works" is a thing of the past, I am still waiting for people to confirm it works. Thanks for trying, Lorenz.
That's datapoint number 1.

@lmb @filippo icloud.com did work fine for me when I tried.

I keep the setting that allows it disabled after initial testing. I consider it a feature that the web access is not available.

Going back to ”no ADP” is available in case it’s not for you.

@filippo i wanted to like contact key verification but so far I didn’t find anyone to test it with. Some couldn’t turn it on because of unknown reason (maybe management profile? don’t know just didn’t work), others had one device on the account thay doesn’t support it yet, and some just didn’t care. I think one person did enable it but I don’t see them as validated, but I could be wrong.
@filippo turned on ADP as soon as it got released! They have been very smart regarding making it hard to loose access if it's turned on. 👌🏻
