Back in June, I saw a pre-print paper from Google about which APIs Malicious/Ad SDKs use on Android to fingerprint and track users. This made me want to respond with an article about how Apple is much better at privacy but I ended up writing an article about the iOS equivalents for fingerprinting users.

“I wanted the blue checkmark on LinkedIn. The one that says “this person is real.” In a sea of fake recruiters, bot accounts, and AI-generated headshots, it seemed like a smart thing to do.

So I tapped “verify.” I scanned my passport. I took a selfie. Three minutes later — done. Badge acquired. I felt a tiny dopamine hit of legitimacy.

Then I did what apparently nobody does. I went and read the privacy policy and terms of service.

Not LinkedIn’s. The other company’s”

* zutiefst korruptes Geschäftsmodell
* große Schäden für die Gesellschaft
* Mindestalter LEGITIMIERT das Geschäftsmodell und seine Opfer sind „selbst schuld.“

I am so tired of github (and gitlab).

Are there any git platforms that get the auth and permission stories right? How can access control between repos within an org be so painful?

At this stage I am even considering self-hosting if that gets us out of this mess.

Chat control fight - round two.

This feels like we are fighting on two fronts at the same time. The blue/brown crowd and the ones that make it hard to argue for the EU.

The road to hell is paved with good intentions.

The benevolent dictator model feels tempting for OSS - faster, fewer debates.

Then a PR argument with the single person in charge reminds me:

Speed isn’t health. Community is.

With the AWS outage, now‘s as good a time as any to repost this old strip

Any recommendations for an alternative to Charles Proxy?

The only better option seems to be Proxyman - but their pricing is just absolutely absurd.
