Personal #Inkvent day 20
Colorverse Morning Star

Yesterday was sunset, and now today is sunrise (=

A shading turquoise with minimal sheen, unlike day 18's Gravity Wave, and leaning brighter and more green than Gravity Wave and Ku-jaku. Still plenty of contrast for daily writing but a nice change of color.

Writing sample from Ovid Metamorphoses 2:114-115, translation in thread.

@paradoxmo I'll bet the farm that the music is Bach...
@hamigua2000 that’s easy, now which Bach and I’ll be impressed (:
@paradoxmo I have to admit that while I *do* know quite a bit of Bach, I do not recognize this particular one, so I am reduced to guessing: d-minor fugue from Well-Tempered Klavier, part II?

@hamigua2000 here’s a hint: it’s not “well tempered”, but it is “harmonious”

Bonus points if you recognize the publisher of the edition

@paradoxmo I'm afraid I'm stumped. On a whim and prompted by the possible key of d-minor, I had an enjoyable listen to the Chromatic Fantasy and Fugue -- but I don't think I heard the passage.

Another possibility is F major, which makes me think of the Italian Concerto, but again, while I didn't give it a listen to be sure, I don't think that's it.

So the piece evades me. As for the edition, I don't have any real clue, but it looks clean and modern, so one could always guess Bärenreiter...

@hamigua2000 much more humble than this (: it’s the Henle edition of Inventions and Sinfonias, it’s the last system of Sinfonia No. 4, and yes it’s D minor

Chromatic was a good guess though, the upper voice in this system is just a downward chromatic scale

@paradoxmo I am not familiar with the Sinfonias. I just listened to the Glenn Gould recording of this and heard this bit near the end.

Now I get to listen to all of them! :D

@hamigua2000 wow, I just listened to the Gould recording… it’s so weird. It’s like he’s in a dream land, la la la, and then maybe playing some notes when he feels like.

Completely different from what my baroque teachers taught me… but then that’s not surprising as he was before historically informed performance was a thing.

@paradoxmo Also, you can either enjoy or be annoyed by his humming... I think his Bach performances/interpretations can be big hit or big miss, but when they hit, they really hit.

I'm fond of his Italian Concerto recording -- especially the 2nd movement (another d-minor...).
