We cannot trust Republicans to control or even to correctly assess the danger of Trump. We must defeat him at the ballot box.
@georgetakei Nothing about trumpturd has ever been graceful, as well as stinking to high heaven!
@georgetakei "Nick Mulvaney, exactly what had you been sniffing when you wrote that, and for how long?"
@georgetakei Graceful and classy. The two words connected with the Orange clown, as some call him.
@georgetakei The satire by The Onion gets funnier every day...oh wait...

@georgetakei Yes, please do.

I'm not convinced you'll do it with Biden though. Surely there must be a more suitable Democrat Party candidate.

The tendency of both parties to repeatedly select old white men must be making younger voters feel really disenfranchised with politics in your country.

@waggers5 @georgetakei Biden is a known quantity; we know exactly who he is and what his goals are. He’s not perfect by any means, but I see no other potential candidate without flaws and a bunch of unknowns. But I’m curious. When you look at Biden’s accomplishments in the face of an obstructionist Congress and unrelenting hostility from Republicans, Fox, Newsmax, etc, what is it that you find so objectionable?
@waggers5 @georgetakei The use of “Democrat Party” (as opposed to “Democratic Party”) is an in-group signifier used by the MAGA right. It’s a puerile,’ own-the-libs insult. If you want to be seen as credible when offering voting advice to Democrats, I recommend you avoid using it. Just a thought.
@LauraJMG @georgetakei I genuinely thought that's what they were called, it's how the mainstream media tend to refer to them on this side of the pond. Using semantics as an excuse to insult people seems pretty odd.
@waggers5 @georgetakei Yeah; I don’t get it, either. But it’s definitely a thing (along with spreading a lot of slurs I won’t repeat). US rightwing media are the main culprits, I think, aided by social media. Republicans are in a hermetically sealed bubble, being lied to and conned out of their health and money on the regular, and given boogieman stories about us on the liberal/left from the cradle. It’s scary and it’s sad.
@waggers5 (A quick postscript: I didn’t find your comment overall out-of-bounds. US media coverage of the presidential race IME has been seriously unbalanced, underreporting Biden’s many strengths and exaggerating his weaknesses while also underreporting Trump’s many appalling weaknesses and the grave threat he poses to our democracy, but having perspectives from beyond our borders can be helpful.)
@georgetakei You have to be a special kind of stupid to think the guy that still claims the last time he lost was cheating is going to gracefully bow out next time. Trump is never going to admit he lost. His whole persona is built on the lie that he's a winner.
@georgetakei he seems completely open to inciting violence an mayhem way before you get anywhere near counting vote anyway.
Simmering Tensions After Pro-Trump Riots; Twitter Suspends Account - Live Analysis

Some lawmakers called for Trump to be removed from office, after a pro-Trump mob forced its way into Congress.

WSJ

@georgetakei

Bullsiht!!!

It surprised me that he left in 2021 but on reflection, it didn’t. Here’s why: Trump NEVER does his own dirty work (though he perseverates verbally about the result he expects). Because he’s a coward he needed others to create a veil of legitimacy that would allow him to stay, but he failed to talk the various bureaucracies into going along. With his stated plan to trumpify the Federal bureaucracy, he’d be impossible to remove if he gets in.

@georgetakei Unfortunately, America can’t rely on republicans to keep Trump in check. The only way I see to primary him is for all voters to switch parties to Republican and vote for the next viable choice. I believe that to be Haley. If democrats and independents switch to republican and band together, we can beat Trump. If not, MAGA, who has hijacked the Republican Party nominate him for another 4 years. It’s really up to us.
@georgetakei I'll take whatever drugs Mick Mulvaney is taking...
@georgetakei If Trump is convicted on any of the charges he is currently facing he will attempt to lead a revolution rather than conceding. He desperately wants to pardon himself.
@georgetakei
If ever a blue wave was needed, it's now.

@georgetakei @Oldfartrant True!

And not just at presidential level. We need bluer State legislatures, otherwise we risk having a state’s legislature declare massive voting fraud, and certify a loser as the winner. And a Republic-controlled Senate will verify the theft. And the SCOTUS will conclude that it was all constitutional.

@georgetakei we need to do a lot more than just vote to keep the US from falling into fascism. Generations of "lesser evilism" is what got us here.
@georgetakei "Those who fail to study (and understand) history are doomed to repeat it.".
@georgetakei follow-up article: “If Trump declares himself dictator for life, it will only be for one day.”
@georgetakei In his mind, he's already won. No need for gracefully
@georgetakei yeah Mick is a real f-ing comedian.
@georgetakei The sad part is that so much of the political news media is always happy to launder the reputations of terrible people like Mulvaney, no matter how consistently wrong they are.
@georgetakei
Better find a new candidate then. Biden is dead to prior Biden voters in swing states at margins in excess of his victory in 2020. Some won't vote for him because of his COVID denialism. Others won't vote for him because of his support for Likud's Palestinian genocide. Without those voting blocs what are Dems going to do, appeal to the better angels of Republican voters? Good luck.
@DemocracyMattersALot
@georgetakei amused by the people who think this is from today, though Mulvaney was obviously wrong at the time

@georgetakei

Mick Mulvaney!
When a conservative's lips don't match the words, it's not because it's subtitles. It's because the lies are bigger than any words they can use to cover them up.

@georgetakei

My prediction, if Trump runs...
If he loses, there will be immediate riots.
If he wins, the riots will begin as his policies are put in place.

If Trump is even in the election, there will be blood.

@georgetakei
Yeah because he's known for that, no history of election fraud, election tampering, or treason!

@georgetakei

Perhaps more importantly, the #WSJ is a tool of the GOP and in many ways more influential than #FOXnews

@georgetakei the fact the article was written suggests that there was a strong suspicion he would not concede gracefully.

And he didn’t.

@georgetakei
Still for sheer brevity, you can't beat the WSJ's own one-word headline, the day after Colin Powell's speech at the UN, about Iraqi mobile anthrax laboratories, that he spent the rest of his life apologizing for, practically every day, every speech:

"IRREFUTABLE"

giant type across the top of the front page.

@georgetakei voting doesn't matter, we're all doomed

@georgetakei

From the same people who told you that “Trump Will Concede Gracefully”

@georgetakei Me Importa poco lo que hagáis los yanquis con vuestro puto país, pero dejad al resto del mundo en paz (especialmente a los palestinos).
@georgetakei wouldn't it be hilarious if Trump lost by exactly the same number of votes as there are people who are no longer allowed to vote after Jan 6th convictions?
@georgetakei Ha. That aged well, didn't it? Trump has done everything with the grace of a three-legged rhino hopped up on psychedelics.
@georgetakei That article headline is gas lighting the idea that Trump and his enablers are rational and reasonable. They are not.
@georgetakei Mick must have waited for the acid to kick-in before writing this piece.
@georgetakei ..."in the end he will gracefully accept the result..." 😂😂 Like he has been doing for the past three years? Mulvaney must be testing his own comedic competence.
@georgetakei Rupert Murdoch owns the Wall Street Journal.
