Millenials.
Walking around like they rent the place.
Millenials.
Walking around like they rent the place.
My point was satirical.
My twenty-somethings have no hope of buying a property anytime soon.
The capitalist greed enabled by our Tory government has predetermined this for them.
@juglugs Your point stands (and is valid), in that it is more difficult for younger people to get on the housing ladder than it was for previous generations at similar ages. Absolutely.
At the same time, also interesting to note that both in the UK and the US, the majority (i.e. greater than 50%) of Millennials are now homeowners.
Happened in 2022 for US and now in early 2023 for UK.

But the definition of millennials dates from 1984...
So, in context, I think that 50% is shockingly low. But I also expect the right-wing Murdoch rag to have forgotten to mention that key fact...
What was it in 1984 for 39 year olds?
@juglugs Iām not disagreeing with you. (Also, I found your original post in this thread very funny!).
Here's some stats at age 30 (US, I believe):
Generation Percent homeowners at age 30
Millennials 42%
Gen X 48%
Baby boomers 51%
So trending lower than previous generations, for sure! Definitely more difficult these days.
My only point was that millennials have now crossed 50% homeownership (both sides of the pond), but the memes haven't caught up. LOL.
I am surrounded by them, I talk to them a lot
(I also continued to read your comments)
But you are right, but to some extent they have no interest in many things that my generation considers important
