can someone please ask michael lewis to stop referring to the sam bankman-fried trial as a "lynching" holy shit

#SBF #SamBankmanFried #MichaelLewis

there are approximately one hundred thousand miles between a jury trial of a powerful white billionaire and the historical extrajudicial murders by a powerful racial majority against Black Americans
this (in Puck, paywalled https://puck.news/michael-lewis-has-more-thoughts-on-s-b-f/) is at least the second time he's drawn the comparison (see also his interview in Time https://time.com/6321668/michael-lewis-sam-bankman-fried-going-infinite/)
Michael Lewis Has More Thoughts on S.B.F.

The bestselling author of Going Infinite hits back at the “shit show” criticism of his book, the spectacle inside the courtroom, and S.B.F.’s putative $5 billion offer to Trump.

i was at the trial too, and there was levity, but i had SEVERAL conversations with journalists there about the gravity and challenging emotions of watching someone barreling headfirst towards spending a substantial portion of the rest of his life in prison
@molly0xfff Whether it was covered with levity or seriousness, it was all self inflicted by SBF. From the initial crime, through the pre-trial media tour, to the witness stand, he brought it all on himself. The polar opposite of a lynching.
@gadgetgav
Hanging every single eventuality on him lets a LOT of people off the hook.
@molly0xfff
@rhizome @molly0xfff It wasn’t all pinned on him. Many of his co-conspirators pled guilty. There may yet be more trials coming.
And it has nothing to do with Lewis characterizing it as a lynching.
