@nixCraft Dark text on a light background is easier to view outdoors!
@j3rn @nixCraft I don't think most people write code outdoors in the sun, at least not me, lol ๐Ÿ˜„
@j3rn @nixCraft who would develop outdoors? If you're outdoors, you should enjoy the big blue room.
@nixCraft in a bright room light mode is just better especially with a glossy screen, I can see what I want to see instead of my face..
@nixCraft that's not a developer thing only, many people that spend a lot of time working with large amounts of text on the screen prefer a dark theme ui
Your eyes have to deal with way less artificial light that way ๐Ÿคท
@nixCraft Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa SO BRIGHT ASF CHRIST WTF. My pupils just slammed shut so tight I herniated my cornea. Brain freeze ain't got nothing on a migraine brought on by a bright white IDE screen. Crypt-mode inky darkness please and thank you.

@nixCraft I used to have horrible eye floaters when I used light themes, so the dark theme takeover of absolutely everything has probably saved my career lol.

So I'd say yes.

@nixCraft the poll doesnโ€™t make any sense to developers who use Vim/Emacs ;-)
@nixCraft My desktop and all the applications switch between dark and light (or back) based on time of the day, or whenever I feel like it. I really don't get the fanatic like or dislike of either mode.
@nixCraft No, not afraid. Dark just happens to be my preference.
@nixCraft It's better for eyes ๐Ÿ˜
@nixCraft I CANNOT DEVELOP ON DARK BACKGROUNDS!!
@nixCraft It be like this most of the times whenno dark mode
@nixCraft
Van Helsing ๐Ÿ”จ or Dracula ๐Ÿฆ‡
@nixCraft I don't want anyone to see my code in daylight.
@nixCraft I'm definitely not a vampire.
@nixCraft a mate ask me if I was using visual basic 6 when he saw me using VS 2022 with light theme.
@nixCraft
Only exception is QGIS, because that looks... questionable on dark mode.

@nixCraft If I used an IDE, I wouldn't be afraid, I would just find the setting for dark mode.

It's academic - I use vim and don't plan on changing.

@nixCraft I get that IDEs can be scary regardless of the color-scheme. But a proper text editor will help.
@nixCraft Wow, this results are pretty polarized. On another note: Dark Mode FTW!!
@nixCraft so it's true, developers like me prefer life as vampires ๐Ÿฆ‡
@nixCraft 41% aspire to be middle management
