Is it weird that the Federation attempted genocide on the Founders, and then the Founders attempted genocide on the Cardassians?

Lil' bit up in the air on what #GulDukat currently wants to do with the Pah'Wraiths, but he declared genocide on the Bajorans when marooned with Sisko.

Lotta genocide in this show.😖

And then some of the Founders joined in a Borg plot to destroy Starfleet, et al.

Bah! Is that show even cannon? Turns out a drone can just decide they don't want to be a #borg and disconnect. WHO KNEW?🤦‍♂️

This whole time assimilation was optional.🤷‍♂️

@kcarr2015

it was not quite that simple.

Jack was happily Borg until Picard plugged himself into the collective and persuaded Jack to withdraw.

It is similar to Seven and Hugh deciding not to be Borg, once they were thinking clearly beyond the narcotic of Borg life.

@Trek_Academy
Disagree.

In #TheBestOfBothWorlds Picard is shown as fighting the borg assimilation the whole time until he managed to sneak out the "sleep" intel to Data.

Seven had to be forcibly disconnected.

Hugh is basically a full on assimilated borg that learns of individuality, but he leaves as borg. That's not Jack's situation, he remembered who he was and decides to leave.

For sure #Borg lore evolved, but this was obviously written for drama rather than lore consistency.😖

Sure, the Borg did what the Borg did as a result of the needs of the plot. As I (Michael) have said several times, it was a long time after The Best of Both Worlds that we met the Borg again because they writers had to figure out how to defeat them each time, and they were set up to be unbeatable.

Maybe Picard was like a Gould host in Stargate - conscious of what was going on but no ability to act, until Data made contact.

Seven and Jack were more brainwashed or addicted to the sense of community they received from being within the collective.

Picard contacting Jack was an intentional storytelling parallel to Data and Picard, I believe.

@Trek_Academy
Well, #Picard is now positronic so it is somewhat similar to Data's interface in #TheBestOfBothWorlds, except the Enterprise crew took a lot of precautions when Data plugged in, Picard just shoved a cable into his neck and was able to unplug at will.

Eh, it was a fun story regardless. 🤷‍♂️
