My prediction is Sam Altman will be working for Microsoft within 3 months.

We remain committed to our partnership with OpenAI and have confidence in our product roadmap, our ability to continue to innovate with everything we announced at Microsoft Ignite, and in continuing to support our customers and partners. We look forward to getting to know Emmett…

@danielpunkass Seems that you were right. Yet it also looks like he is a suit full of hot air. I guess it’s business.. 🤷‍♂️ never could get the hang of business 🤔
@danielpunkass looks like the rumors of Altman going back to OpenAI didn’t pan out.
@danielpunkass Wasn’t expecting this at all cause now they have a weird relationship towards OpenAI with them switching over? But it seems to make sense for Microsoft!
@danielpunkass Feels accurate. But it depends on what details about the firing emerge / how reputationally damaging it is.
@danielpunkass Is Altman a culture fit for Microsoft? My guess would've been one of Elon Musk's companies, particularly the ones that start with X.
@danielpunkass If he’s not indicted. Board chairman too.
@danielpunkass
They are currently seeing if the bank will clear a $5B check to a single person

@danielpunkass I know nothing about Altman beyond his Wikipedia page.. but isn’t he just a suit full of hot air?

Beyond dropping out of his Computer Science course, he seems to have done nothing but investing. Does he understand anything about machine learning?

@frankreiff @danielpunkass As far as I’m aware, he’s made it where he is (was) primarily by being Paul Graham’s golden boy and having a sufficiently wealthy background to not have to worry about financial survival.
@pmdj @danielpunkass Sounds about right. Also looks like he might have been fired on Microsoft’s behest.
@danielpunkass @frankreiff The bit about PG is not hyperbole. I seem to remember PG writing a blog post that seemed to be primarily about praising SA for showing a lot of promise. When his first startup was clearly not working out he turned to investing, which I guess is the default fallback for SV investor darlings.
MS: The line between OpenAI and Microsoft seems blurry. My guess is Microsoft actively wants to keep it separate for legal (liability) reasons.
@danielpunkass I think you misspelled days. He’ll be working for MS in 3 days.
@danielpunkass what numbers will be extracted at the next lottery? Asking for a friend :)
@danielpunkass what’s months/days between friends
@danielpunkass My prediction is that Sam Altman will no longer be working for Microsoft in 3 months
Sam Altman to return as OpenAI CEO with new board members — The Washington Post

After days of talks and drama, an agreement was reached to bring back Sam Altman as CEO of OpenAI

@Cdespinosa @danielpunkass I assume sometime tomorrow they will announce that he's no longer CEO again.
@pixel @Cdespinosa @danielpunkass undo works… we’ll see about redo🤣
@Cdespinosa @danielpunkass Hmm life comes at Sam Altman much faster than either of you predicted
@danielpunkass this aged well. If you spell "months" as "days", but still, quite prescient.
