So would owning a #tesla be pretty much purgatory for me? 😩
Everything-in-software has crept up on us but it's more convenient for the seller than the buyer
Rant over 🙄

@ecoscore Tesla owner here.
1) Popups: zero. Well, if there's an update available, it'll let you know when you get into your car, but that's it.
2) Passwords: none. Unless like connecting to your wifi counts if you choose to do that?
3) Long-winded ways of doing simple things: Just the opposite. The design philosophy is all about removing steps. Unlock doors? Automatic. "Starting" the car? It's always "started". Wipers? Auto. Lights? Auto. Brights? Auto. No busywork.
@ecoscore 4) Data collection: You control it. There's if I remember right three levels of granularity - you can share all (anonymized) data, minimal data, or no data (although if it's "no data" then that obviously prevents services that require data from working, like anything that requires GPS positions or whatnot).
5) Unnecessary cameras looking: There's an internal camera, designed for in case they're ever legally required to do eye tracking for when AP is on.
@ecoscore But not currently in use. Feel free to tape it if its existence bugs you.
6) "Being told what to do": I don't even understand this. You drive the car. You're in charge, lol!
Honestly, the ownership experience has been a breeze. By far the best car I've ever owned.
(And yes, Musk is IMHO an arse, but he owns less than 12% of the company, and if one's goal is to avoid every company where objectionable people own at least 12%, well, *good luck with that*)
