It’s hard to watch the horrific scenes coming from Gaza and the escalating death toll, which includes such a high number of children.

I was happy to speak with @marwasf about the information war on social media, internet shutdowns enforced by Israel, and what people can do to support Palestinian rights in this moment.

The Information War in Gaza w/ Marwa Fatafta - Tech Won’t Save Us

A left-wing podcast for better technology and a better world.

Tech Won't Save Us
@parismarx @marwasf Interesting episode but you are unduly harsh on mainstream broadcasters like the BBC who do use the words you claim they don't. They are also heavily restricted in their reporting by Israel and only have a couple of stringers in Gaza itself so reporting is naturally limited. But they get ordinary residents in Gaza on air every single day describing what is happening in very explicit terms. Listen to BBC World Service.
@sellathechemist @parismarx @marwasf I agree, this is a bit harsh - I also think the world service is doing a good to stellar job, given the circumstances. I heard some very moving episodes with voices from Gaza and they air them regularly.
@mario_angst_sci @parismarx @marwasf What I find a little disturbing is the idea that broadcasters like BBC and NPR should singled out as complicit, at a time when there are myriad commercial outfits paid for by govts with an axe to grind, plus a firehose of online disinformation. Sifting through these in real time is very difficult. So when big broadcasters like BBC get it wrong they are vilified, when the reality is that they are trying incredibly hard to report on what is going on.
@parismarx
Thank you for speaking up and for bringing these amazing guests.
Once I recover from my recent financial situation (new baby and new house) I will definitively become a patron.
