This is devastating in my view. Trump never had any intention of complying with the election results. He was told repeatedly in the presence of a convicted co-defendant that he had lost. He ignored it and conspired with his lawyers to overthrow the election anyway.

@GottaLaff It kinda puts the lie to the whole notion of "running for election". It's all just kabuki if you're going to deny the results each time you lose.

@Alan He did away with rules, norms, laws. Nothing exists anymore, and democracy will die if he gets anywhere near public office again. He’s accomplished so much of his goal, along with Bannon, Stone, and the other complicit traitors.

@Alan Yes, but to put all the blame on one person doesn’t really work. Someone else told me that all the blame goes to Burnett, the Apprentice guy, because he gave Trump wings, as it were. No, it’s a combo of so many things, and so much bigger than these 2. It started in 2011 with the Obama isn’t American BS. Had we not given him air time to trumpet that… and so it goes, repeatedly.

So many times he was given license, so many times people failed to see the consequences.

That is key to understanding this. These guys have been at it for decades. With or without orange julius. They’re velociraptors who’ve been jiggling the handles. The door is finally opening for them. Hopefully Jack Smith enables our institutions to hold, and provide some justice in the courts. Biden needs to show executive strength and leadership. The armed base will dissipate/fracture through other multiple means, I think. But lots of water will need to go under the bridge.
