Sewing sacks with leftover and salvaged Dyneema today.

The blue is the thickest at 1oz / sq yard. It’ll be a food bag / bear hang.

The white 0.8 will be a pack sack. I mostly cowboy ‘camp’ so my bag is just on the ground and I always want a sack to stuff it in for protection.

The super light 0.34 will be a bunch of organization and ditty bags.

And the extra 0.34 and 80gsm alpha direct will be some ultralight wind mitts.

@jds if you cowboy "camp", how do you handle the low temperatures from the ground or padding in general?
I'm dipping my feet into backpacking and trying to find the least amount of carry. I'm a fan of hammock, but that does require trees. 🙃​

@polishdub depends on the conditions. Any combination of Tyvek or polycryo ground sheet, 1/8 inch or 1/4 inch closed cell pad, inflatable mat, bivy. Basically standard layering, you want to separate yourself from moisture and cold conduction with something waterproof and some kind of pocket of air.

@jds @polishdub OK, you included the inflatable mat. That makes it reasonable. Was reading a blog post from 2007 where I still used only my Ensolite pad from the 80’s while backpacking. What was I thinking?

@100peaks @polishdub honestly I skip inflatables when I can (I type this as a new one is arriving this aft 🤣). They’re critical in real cold but I’m not out much in bad weather.
