Attempting to learn guitar (again) & audio recording/engineering

I cannot look at a website now and not question that comparing two products is not AI-slop. Even if the page is clean looking, though sometimes that makes me question even further...

This fracking sucks. We want simple lightweight websites that we could value. But now, you just don't know.

I finally released Maolan, DAW for #Linux and #FreeBSD! It was a great joy learning all about #Rust and #audio in a project for #music production. I'm sorry to say that #OpenBSD and #NetBSD are still not supported by the underlying libraries, but once they are, I'll work on support for those operating systems. On the other hand, Windows proved to be near impossible to support, so I removed the support for it. Maybe at some point my best man will add OSX support, but as their baby is on the way, I wouldn't count on it. Anyway, the site is https://maolan.github.io and the only missing piece is "support the project", because I'm in Serbia. Enjoy!
Maolan – Open Source Digital Audio Workstation

A modern Rust-based DAW for recording, MIDI editing, automation, and music production. Open source, transparent, and community-driven.

I started working on my implementation of #audio and #music production software (aka DAW) called Maolan. It supports #FreeBSD and #Linux, with experimental support for #Mac and #Windows. I am currently working on support for #NetBSD and #OpenBSD. When I get it to work on all the mentioned OSes at least in virtual machine, #Solaris is next. Once the core architecture is in place, contributions will be more than welcome. Stay tuned.

OK, that works... Quite impressed with @jlc3dp

The PCB with LEDs to go inside is expected tomorrow.

Update: Someone asked me if this image was real, not AI, or proof of concept: FFS, it is a real photograph I took of a real 3D print!

And yes, I am mastodon only now, so bloody well boost 🙂 thanks. Yes, thank you.

P.S. never expected "bloody well boost" to work. Extra cool. Thanks all.

You can now enter a time capsule back to the year 1997 and from there into a post-nuclear retro-future on #OpenBSD with fallout1-ce in ports. You need the assets from Fallout 1 to play though.

Thanks to @izder456 for the hard work and persistence!

Fallout -- PlayOnBSD

The Vault Dweller is tasked with exploring post-nuclear California in order to retrieve a water chip to replace the broken chip of Vault 13, their home, which they are the first person to ever leave. The player will engage in Western RPG character building and turn-based tactical combat while getting to know settlements and factions of people, mutants and ghouls through branching dialogue trees.

I'm looking for real setups from real people — no enterprise gear required. Show me what you're running, the services you've built, and the problems you've solved.

I don't want Europe to grow its own hyperscalers. Companies that become too big are a problem no matter who owns them. Instead, lets bring a healthy and thriving ecosystem of small and medium sized organizations to do hosting and who co-operate.

(Edit: I'm muting replies to this. I can't deal with the toxic fetishization of status quo today.)

New York Wants to Ctrl+Alt+Delete Your 3D Printer

New York’s budget bill proposes mandatory file-scanning “blocking” software for 3D printers and CNC tools. It targets general-purpose tools instead of criminal acts — and puts educators, open source, and small makers on the hook first. 🗽🖨️
